I would just like to share some knowledge i gained from my doctor. She asked me if i drank pop....its sad when even your doctor calls you fat. ...and my mom said yeah but its only diet pepsi. Well apparently diet sodas have something in them that actually make you hungrier. I just thought i'd share this. 0.o

Yup. That would be the artificial sweetener. In a nutshell, your body thinks it's getting calories, but it doesn't, so it triggers a hunger response looking for more calories. Pretty well any zero calorie, sweetened beverage will do this.
Hard as it is, this is why I am forcing myself to stick to water. :happy:0 -
Yeah, I read that in a book recently... "Faith and Fat Loss". I didn't know that! And I thought diet drinks or sweet n low in my tea was a good choice.0

This site, among others informs people about the dangers of diet pop and artificial sweeteners.
Such as:
Headaches, Gastrointestinal Problems, Allergic Reactions, Cancer and more....
I used to experience migraines and bad stomachaches so I try to avoid them as much as possible.0 -
Ya gotta indulge somewhere...0

When I'm sick of water and want a flavored drink; I try to drink water with fresh lemon or even mint leaves for flavor and tea, hot or cold with a little bit of honey if you're wanting a sweet drink.0

It's true. I used to drink diet Pepsi everyday at lunch and I was always craving sweets in the afternoon. After hearing that diet soda could cause sweets cravings, I stopped drinking it (about 3 weeks ago). Since then, I don't have the cravings in the afternoon anymore and it has been SO much easier to stick to a healthier diet. I still ate some sweets around the holidays, but I was able to stop after one piece of candy or cookie. My advice is to try it for a few weeks and see if it works for you.0

Does splenda fall under that as well?0

CHEMICALS!!! All chemicals my dears!!! :noway:
Diet soda, sweeteners = bad news, increases cravings, etc.
Here's an article to ck out: :drinker: :flowerforyou:
"Diet Soda is CHEMICALS with gas (CO2) and coloring (more chemicals). Please don’t ask what it does to your brain: phenylalanine (read the back) is converted to the amino acid tyrosine in the brain, which, in anyone who has any depression, mood issues or anxiety, can really f a person up. SERIOUSLY."

I am hoping Truvia or Stevia is better for you. But maybe best to just stick to honey or real sugar:ohwell: :noway:0

I've never noticed a difference between drinking diet soda and not drinking it to be honest. So, I just limit my self to a max of one everyday.0

Stevia is fine- it's not a chemical... we grow stevia in our garden0 -
Another reason diet soda is bad for you is the sodium. I changed my food tracking to include sodium along with the calories, carbs, etc. I was a faithful Diet Dr. Pepper drinker. After research I found that that diet drinks contained sodium which in a way sabbotages your diet because of the water retention the sodium causes.
I just stopped drinking them altogether. I do 2% milk (read low fat dairy were fat burners), water and unsweeted tea. Which I will admit I added sweetner until reading these posts.
Thanks for the info!!0 -

Diet coke only has 40mg of sodium per can so I don't really consider that to be a ton.0 -
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Diet Coke.....but I did give it up for a while a few years ago and noticed differences in my energy, skin, and overall health. I started drinking it again because I just couldn't stay away, but I have 3 left in the fridge and after that, I am going to try to stick to water!!! We'll see how long I last!0
