For those who cut down their calories and exercise..

I'm a little upset right now. I was 185 just a few days ago. I weighed myself this morning and it says I'm 189.4. Starting yesterday morning I've been eating Smart Ones and Healthy Choice. They're all very low in calories but I exercise during the day. Could it be that I gained some muscle while exercising (I work out my legs and butt) and that's why it says I weigh more today? Or could it be that I'm not eating enough calories? On this site it says I'm supposed to go up to but do not exceed 1,370 calories. Yesterday I had 533 calories left to go. It says that my body will go into starvation mode and I need to eat more otherwise I won't lose weight, it'll just get stuck. What do you people think? Should I not exercise? I hear if you exercise AND diet or cut back calories your body won't see the calories that you ARE taking in because you're burning it when you're exercising. And maybe that's why I gained and it's just stuck there. What do you guys and girls recommend? Sorry if this rambled on.

  • Don't worry your weight can fluctuate wildly. My weight can vary by up to 3kg in a day. Weigh yourself once a week ideally at the same time etc etc
It's highly unlikely that you've gained any muscle on a reduced calorie diet over such a short period of time.
Losing body fat is a long term objective, stick with it.
  • Thank you. Well, I've been exercising like this for about a month now so I thought maybe it was possible.

But you have a point about our weights fluctuating throughout the day. I'm going to stick to weighing myself once a week at the same time each time because I know it will only discourage me and bring me down if I do it every few days. Thanks for your reply!!

Frozen dinners like that tend to be quite high in sodium. Perhaps you are retaining water.
  • I thought about that too. In your opinion, do you think I should stop these foods and go back to my old foods and just watch my calorie intake?

Check the sodium levels on those pre-made meals. You may just be retaining water.
  • Will it show if I retain water? Like will I look like I'm not even losing weight if that continues to happen?
