How did you do it? I really don't WANT a tummy tuck, but I WILL if I need it.
Just curious if there is anybody who's beat the extra skin with no surgery.

Well that's what I'm doing, so hopefully I'll be alright. Thanks!0 -
Eat healthy, drink your water, exercise and moisturize! Don't lose the weight too fast - let your skin shrink with you! Good luck! :drinker:0

I have lost 90 lbs and have 90 lbs more to go. I am losing it slowly, drinking loads of water, and moisturizing and so far so good. My arms and legs are great. My stomach - we will have to wait and see. I have been obese most of my life so I know I will have flab at my belly left when I am done but I do not plan on a TT unless the Dr says it is a medical necessity due to possible issues with the extra skin. I have earned every stretch mark and I am not one to wear belly showing clothes, so it will not matter if I have some tummy flab.
I have three friends who have TT as well as Breast lifts, chins, legs, and knees sucked out. Trust me when I say - it looked good for the first year but years later it was a waste of money. ( My Opinion!!)0 -

I'm afraid that I might need one because my 1st baby was 10 lbs, I'm 5'2" with a very short torso so it really streatched my skin out pretty bad. If it was just from losing weight then I wouldn't be so worried...I hear that there are laser proseadures that can help too though.0

I hope I don't need to get one. I have read an article someone posted here (don't know where) that explained that yes moisturize it and it should be fine after 2 years. You skin is a living organism and will heal over time it just takes time. I have 75 lbs to loose as well and loosing it slowly is a great way to avoid extra skin. Your skin needs time to fix itself too.0

I'm at 30lbs right now, but I've lost weight before and I know I won't need one. Even given my highest weight of 250lbs (size 14 pant), I've always been "small" for my size which is fortunately due to being 5'10. However, the slower you lose weight, sticking as close to 2lbs per week, you're skin will be able to adjust by itself. However, drastic loss will leave you skin saggy.0

Unfortunately, you don't get to pick.
I lost 170+ lbs and don't need a tummy tuck because I didn't carry a lot of weight there. I have wrinkles, but no droopy apron.
On the other hand, my thighs/calves and arms (even my lower arms) are covered with loose skin. On the thighs and upper arms it's actually droopy. I have loose skin on where my butt used to be, and where my back boobs used to be. Just not that much on my tummy.
There are a lot of myths about tightening loose skin and none of them actually work - losing slowly, lotions, potions and supplements do not work. Building muscle reduces the appearance of lose skin because it fills it back out with muscle instead of fat, but that doesn't affect the belly.
Bad news - the amount of loose skin you have and where will be determined by how overweight you were, how long your skin was stretched, how old you are, and your genetics. Basically, all factors that determine how elastic your skin is and how well it will bounce back.0 -
My friend Yoovie lost over 70lbs and you could never tell, she looks awesome! (She works her butt off.)
I have lost almost 50 and have no ill effects... need to lose 30 more, so I guess I'll get back to you.0 -

I think genetics plays a lot into it. The stuff about moisturizing and drinking water is only going to do so much...and if you have over hang, it probably wont do THAT much justice. Unfortunately i think it depends on how you carry your weight. I carry a lot of it in my midsection plus ive given birth twice. My chub was in my stomach before i had my kids, but i had no overhang. Now that ive had two there is a def overhang that im not sure will go away or not. If you tend to carry your weight in other places it probably wont be a problem. If you carry it in your stomach, like i do, then it might go away, it might not go away. If you are only losing 2-3lb per week, it shouldnt impact it, but what will impact it is your genes. Now if you lose 50 in a couple of months, that would be a different story. I say drink water, do cardio, a little weights, and eat well. Dont expect a miracle, it seems to be me relient on factors outside of your control...some are lucky, others are not...sorry!
Obviously, i have not lost 70lb+, so take it w a grain of salt. Its just my two cents. and i have about 70lbs to go.
i have a feeling i will be one of the unlucky ones and always have the overhang, but honestly ive im to my goal weight, its probably something i could look pass...it woudl have to be pretty severe to ever warrent TT, personally, but i do see the appeal.0 -

This is correct! A few other factors can play into it, such as how often you've gained and lost weight, how old you are, etc. It doesn't matter how slowly you lose, some people will never regain elasticity. It's not impossible, but it's totally based on your genetics and factors you can't control at this point.
One thing to note: Some people have seen improvement over a couple of years after they reach their goal weight. After three years at goal, your skin is where it is going to be for good most likely.
Also, many people find that if you gain muscle from weight lifting, you'll have a better shape and look better with a little loose skin.0
