Something I don't understand about Heart Monitors...

At the end of the workout they spit out a "calories burned" number. Does that include, or is it in addition to the calories that I would have burned if I had been watching TV or in a coma?
Just for fun I wore my HRM while making dinner tonight. At the end it said I burned 84 calories. I'm not going to write that down. That's not exercise, that's just living. That number is included in my BMR calculation.
Suggestions? Ideas?

Jt is actual burn. It does not care what you burn watching tv.0

Yeah, so it seems like I'm double counting some calories burned. My BMR assumes some basic calorie burn for an hour of the day. And then when I work out during the day, a HRM will count those calories as well in addition to some bonus for working out.
When I add my HRM number to MFP, it seems like I'm double dipping just a bit. Surely I'm not the only one who has thought of this.Jt is actual burn. It does not care what you burn watching tv.0 -
I think you have a point but I am not sure it is that exact of a science. Who knows maybe you actually burn more calories than your HRM says. A good estimate is I think all it is. A 50-80 cal difference up or down won't change much and probably avgs out anyway.0
