Lifting Resources

Question for lifters: As much as I'd like to, I can't afford a trainer. I want to amp up my strength training by using the weight machines or, preferably, free weights. Any good resources to get me started? I know the basics of kettlebells, dumbbells, medicine ball, but I'm more interested in true lifting.
Thanks for your help!

I'd suggest going to bodybuilding.com .. you can put in some basic info about yourself and your goals and it will give you some plans to choose from. Then you can always youtube ahead of time any excercises you're unsure of and study up before you go in, start with a light weight to practive and get a gauge for your strength on that particular excercise. You could start with something like a 3 day a week split: Chest/Triceps/Shoulders (push muscles), Back/Biceps (pull muscles), Legs. Keep a log and try to get stronger each week. Jefit is an awesome ap for android/iphone for keeping records of your progress..0

Careful what you read on bodybuilding.com thoough, or any big fitness site. Take it with a grain of salt and always cross reference sources. Theres a lot of BS in the fitness and nutrition industry and many of these sites are owned by supplement companies. Alan Aragon is considered a top notch source of latest research on strength and nutrition. And scooby is also highly respected.0 -

And as already pointed out: beware of anyone offering advice who is ALSO selling something, be it book, supplement or tickets to the GUN SHOW.
