Anyone else budgeting and doing MFP at the same time?

I hear the hardest thing to do is to lose weight and get out of debt at the same time!
In December of 2010 I officially started budgeting after going on the Dave Ramsey plan. Budgeting has been actually fun and I love to tell my money where it goes.
I have been so successful with the Dave Ramsey plan that by Feb 2013 I will be debt free except my house. I wondered why I couldn't be as successful with my weight.
MFP was exactly what I needed. I had used the Lose it! app and the Weight Watchers online, but neither worked for me. I'm so glad to have found MFP and my new online friends!

Great job on the debt defiance! Dave Ramsey really is one of the best out there for conquering your debts. I guess we need to start telling our calories where they need to go! Maybe that would help us!0

I see budgetting the same as counting calories. I have always been a budgeter and it is now just a lifestyle. Moving on to me now...budgetting my calories. Hopefully a new way of life.0

I look at being in debt and being overweight as pretty close. Calories to spend..dollars to spend. It takes the same disciplines to get out of both. I bet you do great on here.0

I have always budgeted our money.

I am the same way. I like keeping track of things. I think that's why MFP works so well for me. I'm a numbers gal. :bigsmile:0 -
We follow Dave Ramsey principles too for about 3 years now. We probably have farther to go then you. We probably have another 3 years to get where we would like to be.
Try planning your meals for the week and "guess-timating" how much your shopping list might cost. My husband and I budget $270 every two weeks, which comes out to about $10 per person per day. Our youngest just moved for college and we budget for her $70 per week for groceries. I don't know if that's a good rule of thumb for larger families, but its working for us. We don't usually have anything in this envelope left-over as we try to be hospital now and then. This does not include eating out (entertainment) nor miscellaneous household (we categorize as personal). Also, we live in California. I don't know about other places around the country but groceries are pricey...especially if you buy organic produce, which we do from time to time. I also use Alive! Pea Protein for a supplement when I exercise which is a greater out-lay when I refill it...
I hope this helps.0
