Was dragging last night at the gym

Does anyone ever have days at the gym where you just don't feel like you can even complete your regular workout? Last night was an upper body workout for me, which is usually one of my favs to do, but for whatever reason I could not stop yawning and my body felt like it weighed a ton, it was so hard to just move! I got thru the workout, but didn't feel as 'good' about it by the end. Just wanted it to be over, which is very strange for me. Nothing was different about yesterday that should have affected my energy level. Anyone else ever have those days?

I do.... it is mostly when I am first coming down with a cold or right before my TOM.... it is okay to just go home and sleep once in a while!0

I do an it almost always has to do with me not fueling properly before.0

yes...sometimes my body/mind just aren't willing to cooperate. I tend to go before work; that way I either have to stay the whole time or show up at work early (bleh). Or convince myself that I'll do at least 75% of my workout...and by the time I get there, I'll be like "meh, might as well do the rest."0

Most likely reason is that you are not properly fueling your body. Another reason could be that you didn't get enough sleep.0

I didn't eat as much protein yesterday as normal. Maybe that was it?0 -
I think everyone gets those days but as someone else mentioned, many times it can have a lot to do with your diet and specifically what you eat before your workout. I try to get a decent load of carbs and some proteins about 2 hours before I workout. That way my body has a fresh supply of energy and I usually get a better workout. I've also started taking pre-workout supplements (right now I'm trying out C4) which also seem to help get me extra "amped up" to work out.
The other thing I'll suggest is that when you do find yourself feeling that way, if your diet and everything else are typical, it could just be a mental thing. Sometimes after a particularly stressful day the last thing you want to do is go workout. It affects you physically even though the cause is mental. When I have those days I'll take 20 minutes of complete down time where I can just lock myself away, relax and focus on what I'm about to do. Sometimes I plan out my workout or I'll just envision what I'm going to do or whatever but it helps get me in the proper mindset to have a good workout.0 -

Thank you for your sugesstions!!! Yesterday was a little strange in that I mentally was all about working out, but physically, just wasn't with it. I guess it's possible that I was just plain ol' tired :-/0 -
I didn't end up going last night because it was my walk/run day and my calves were retaining water to the point that I was having throbbing pain. I asked the PA where I work to call in a Rx for Lasix to help with the retention. I knew there was no way I was going to be able to run when my legs were feeling that way. Sometimes you have days where, physically, you are just not able to workout. That's okay. Just as long as you get right back in there withing 24-48 hours.0
