I've read a lot about bulking then cutting..if you are trying to lose weight should you do that? And what do you do when you "cut"

Bulking = eating calorie surplus to place the body in an anabolic state. In this state, you can build muscle mass.

Cutting = eating calorie deficit to place the body in a catatonic state. In this state, you can lose fat mass.
  • When you want to cut, you want to lower your carb and lower your fat intake by A LOT!!!! When you workout do more circuit type training
  • I would say if you are asking the question, then you do not want to do that. You will probably just want to do the "cut" part (fat loss). Lifting weights and eating protein will help stop too much muscle loss.

This is what I am doing at the moment.

Once you are down to <20% body fat, then worry about body builder stuff like bulking / cutting. Or use a system like lean gains (I have not tried that, it seems popular)
