Strength exercises - no points?

Hi
I'm new at the "gym thing" and have started to log my strength exercises at the gym. These, however, appear not to yield any extra calorie "points"... Is that correct? (and why? I'm probably just being daft, but am also curious!)

I have often thought the same to be honest. Maybe it's just too difficult to estimate based on the simplicity of the MFP site. There are probably many variables to take into consideration.

When I'm strength training my heart rate spikes so I do watch my heart rate monitor / calorie counter and record the calories lost accordingly. I've input these into exercises I have created myself.

It has been proven that strength training does help weight loss considerably due to the calorie burn after the workout is over.
