I am finally really getting into it.
I have a pair of Ocean Kayaks that my wife and I take out as often as possible.
Anyone else into it?

Kayaking without fishing would be like my wife laying on our bed naked with a "Don't Touch Me" sign...
Cool, I mainly just use mine to fish local rivers and lakes, and all in freshwater.0 -
I am always happy to rent a sit-on-top kayak and paddle around Monterey Bay or La Jolla Cove, or Catalina Island. It is a great activity and a super way to haul a lot of gear and picnic fixin's and then set up in a remote spot and feel quite civilized. Money well spent.0

That's really cool. I dive, too, that would be a good kayak to have. What brand/model is it?0 -

Mine is a sub model called "OK Diver" which makes it about a foot or so longer and about four inches wider then my wifes Kayak.
Both have the tank wells and straps.0 -
I fish out of a 10' Heritage Angler....tricked out with a depth finder, gps, retractable anchor, dry storage, and electric bilge pump. Sweet little boat, IIDSSM. I also have a 14' Heritage tandem for when my wife wants to ride along. (I love my wife dearly but I gotta say I miss my little yak when that happens.) I recently bought a 12' fiberglass shell that I'm in the process of rigging but it's actually more of a pirogue than a yak. Looks very similar but it's a lot more stable.0

I'm rocking a Malibu Mini-X. I like it because I can fit it in the back of my Avalanche with the back still sealed.0

Cool! Thanks. Now if I just lived in FLA still.....but there is a lot of diving and kayaking here in the PNW. Have fun with it. I know a lot of people dive off kayaks, great way to get to the reefs in SoFLA without spending a lot of $$.0 -

Why a bilge pump?
It is a Sit on top, right?
Unless you have plugged your scupper holes.0 -

Yes! Best place I've been is the Elkhorn Slough near Monterrey. There are so many animals! We had a super cute otter following us for a while.0

I have to ask..

No, it's not a sit-on-top...and it tends to take on a lot of water. I fish drop-and -pool type streams mostly and the shoals can be a bit much for this small boat when the run-off is heavy. I took the pump out of another boat and wired it to the little battery I installed to power the gps and fish finder. It cost me less than buying an apron for it.0 -

It's rated for 350 lbs, so it works fine for me. It's a really wide boat which I like for fishing. Also it has 4 molded rod holders and plenty of space to store fishing gear. I mainly bass fish, and take 4-5 rods per trip.0 -

Maybe I will have to add a third boat to my growing fleet.....0 -

I have never been in a sit in myself. I would like to try some day but, I would have to take lessons for rolling over and stuff.0 -
