Am I just too short for the captains chair?

I have yet to get on a captains chair that I is adjustable so I assume they are just not made that way. My arms are so short that when I hold the handles, my forearms are way away from my body, not providing much support which allows me to slip down. I put so much effort into just staying up, that I don't feel like I have the best form, certainly not like I could if my arms were resting closer to my body.
Any suggestions?

Use free weights or bands. I myself am just barely 5' tall so using gym equipment is at times impossible. There are simply some machines that I will never be able to use because Im not tall enough.0

My husband cracks up when I try different machines. Glad to know I'm not the only one(I'm 5ft 1). :flowerforyou:0

I'm 5'5" and attend a ladies gym so I thought maybe I'd find that I could use this one better than at the unisex gyms but oh no.0

Ok, I'll bite. What's a captains chair? All I envision is Captain Kirk on the USS Enterprise, but I doubt if that's what we're talking about here0

It's also called a Roman Chair. It's an ab machine. I have yet to learn how to post pics on here but you can find a video on bodybuilding.com that shows one in use.0

Ahhh! Roman chair is a term I'm familiar with. But not as a machine. Sounds like we're talking about that machine where you sit and bring your legs and elbows together? Yeah, I can totally imagine it and a bunch of other machines wouldn't be suitable to people under a certain height. Thankfully there are tons of exercises just as good and probably better that don't involve those type of machines.0
