I Need Help..!

Hi (: For me, most days are difficult to stick to my caloric allotment. Mainly because once I've eaten just enough for the day (calorie wise) I feel sick and weak. But any more, and I gain weight. I don't know what to do! I could either starve and feel sick but be skinny, or eat just enough to feel content but remain at over 200 pounds. When I eat just enough, not only do I gain weight, but I also feel fat. But feeling fat isn't the same as sick. A couple of years ago, I lost over 30 pounds in under 6 months, and although when I walked and did things I felt lighter, I was slowly losing all my energy. What should I do? I already drink energy drinks and coffee to make it through the day...

Hey! Maybe have a chat to a dr about suppliments. Iron etc? There are ways to get enrtgy without coffee and energy drinks and that would save your calories for fooooood! Have a look at other peoples diaries and see what they're eating. You might find some great filling foods with lower calories.

You will find the right balance!
  • I just checked out your diary. You are eating way to much processed food. Maybe try a day without processed food and see if there is any difference. HUGS :flowerforyou:

I was thinking the same thing. Some foods keep you hungry even though they have lots of calories.

Try some protein, some less processed food, and things with a lot of flavor but not a lot of calories. See how that goes. I found when I first started that I got a little dizzy, even though I wasn't hungry. I needed a bit more iron.

Definitely try eating more protein. Also, before your meals, drink a glass of water and eat some veggies. That will fill you up some so you don't waste a bunch of calories on foods that aren't so good for you.
  • You guys are right--I do eat a lot of processed foods, mainly because with things like Pop-Tarts, it's easy to grab and go, plus the quantity can be figured very easily. My family does buy a few kinds of fruit, but we really need to get some veggies in there too! My mom thinks I will never eat fresh spinach in a salad, but she's never given me the chance (though I have ate it otherwise, and it is pretty good!). Which processed foods in particular do you think I should avoid? Also what are some good sources of protein other than generic answers like 'lean meat' and 'protein shakes'. Some specifics would be nice (: also, what are some vitamins/supplements that I might need to try? Srry about all the Q's guys--Thanks (:

Can you go grocery shopping with your mom and pick out some healthier stuff? Stick to the perimeter of the store - meat, dairy, fruits, veggies. Try to eat fewer things that come in a box. Maybe try Fiber One bars instead of pop tarts. Try to get the most nutrition you can for the calories. Things that are all carbs/sugar are high calorie with nothing that will keep you feeling full.

Sources of protein - chicken breasts, tuna, cheese, greek yogurt, salmon, almonds/almond butter, eggs

I find that egg whites and Greek yogurt fill me up until lunch time...and only about 200 calories. And great protein

In addition to the other ideas, keep in mind that adding in exercise will allow you more food. Start with something easy - walking briskly! You've probably been dong it since you were a year old! :-) Once you get started, you'll probably start to have more energy, and then will be more confident to try other forms of exercise.

I totally know what you mean when you say you hate to exercise. But the truth is, to be healthy you'll have to eat less AND move more.

Stay away from boxed items. I cook one day and freeze my food so I have it to heat and eat. Then eat tuna one day a week. I make one can with 1 tbsp of mayo and 1tbsp of relish and it's about 300 calories but very very filling. I munch on radishes and cherry tomatoes during the day to curb the grumbellies they also help keep me full and wow so low in calories. Refrigerater oatmeal is also something you can just grab and go with in the mornings (if you like oatmeal) google it and see. You are going to have to give up some comforts in order to get healthy, but it's way worth it. I have not eaten boxed foods for going on 8 months now. You have to learn to adapt. It's not easy, if it was we wouldn't be fat. But you've got to want to this to work.
