Been in the mood for a smoothie and decided to look in the froozen section, saw sunrise smoothies mango citrus blast. I thought, wow, this looks good! But then I looked on the nutrition label and saw 36 grams of sugar! My question is, is this OK? I ean, its just the sugar in the fruit, right? Is fruit sugar good for you, and does it count towards your daily sugar intake (25 for me). If it does, I could never drink a smoothie, because it would automatically put me over for sugar that day!

I personally think that is way too much. Just make your own instead. Buy frozen fruit with no added sugar.

Hm...I guess it's hard to know if the sugar is from the fruit or if they add sugar to it. I would stick to making your own so you know what's in them. Here's my smoothie that I make all the time. It's perfectly sweet and about 150 cals and the sugar only comes from the fruit. I slice the fruit ahead of time, portion it out, and freeze it so I just grab one out of the freezer when I want one.

    Strawberry Banana Smoothie
    1 small frozen banana, sliced
    4 frozen strawberries, sliced
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
    dash of pure vanilla extract

blend and enjoy. I want one right now!
  • Actually, the only ingredients are mangos, grapes, and peaches.
