binge revelation

So I am reading this book on binge eating and something hit home with me. The author talks about what giving up binge eating means. She says that is has to mean more to you than just losing weight or you wont stick with it.

Well I figured out what it means to me. The other night I went and got cake, cookie dough, and pizza for dinner. My son asked me if I wanted him to do his chores and I told him no lets just have a lazy night and I served him up a tiny piece of cake and me a large piece.

There are several problems to this and two major ones. the first one I just realized now that I am not teaching my older son good habits. I am showing him that its ok to be lazy and here have a piece of cake. I don’t want that for myself let alone him. I want him to be active and not binge like me.

The second problem I realize is my need to binge the other night kept me from doing things around the house and just sitting in front of the tv with my boys. Its keeping me from getting things done around the house, taking them to the park, going for a walk.

This is not how I want my kids to know me and learn from me. I am sooooo thankful for this book because I now realize it and can and will do something about it. WOW.

That is all I can say is WOW.
