I'll be teaching first grade after a year off and I need ideas for staying healthy and within my calories while at school from 7am to 3pm. I get hungry often and don't want to hit the vending machine or goodies in the lounge! Thanks :)

STAY AWAY FROM THE CAFETERIA :noway:

I kept a small fridge in my classroom and easy meals in a drawer....mostly I never walked out my door without my water and an apple

I pack EVERYTHING from home. It's a bit of work so early in the morning before I leave but it's worth it not to snack! I teach preK so the hardest part is not to sneak snacks when the kids are snacking but if I know I'm looking forward to a lunch that I've already made and pre-logged then I'm more likely to stay strong!

always plan ahead and make yourself a cooler of healthy goodies for each day. I usually pack pb&j but I use sunbutter due to nut allergies in my room :( , whole wheat pasta salads, grapes, string cheese, crackers, fruit cups, lots of waters. IF you plan ahead than you have no excuse not to eat it. Trust me, other teachers will be jealous of your treats. :) Good Luck with the kiddos!

nuts! not too many bc they are high in fat/calories but, if its not the munchies, and you really need fuel, nuts are a great snack that doesn't require refrigeration, preparation, or utensils. Also, because you aren't going to have that many of them, it a fast snack that will get you back to paying attention to your work quickly.
