Precisely what to log.

Hello there. I'm new on these forums and hoping to find something here after trying and failing to break the stranglehold my 15.5-16st weight currently has on me. One thing to ask is basically, is there a way to log work? I only ask because I work in a busy retail job and while I'm not aiming to eat back all the calories from work it would be good to get some idea of just how much I'm burning off at work. Is it good to log that stuff in even? If you was to spend an hour wandering around town shopping would you log that in?
Basically how detailed is your diary?

When you set up your MFP account and followed the directions, your daily activities, such as work, are factored in. You only log in your exercise above and beyond you normally daily activities.
I log everything that goes into my mouth, every snack, every meal, every day.0 -
Set ur self as light active, then add any purposeful exercise on top of that.0

I agree, you don't log work, that is factored into your activity level.
However, that said, don't try to make this work faster by stating you are Sedentary, when you are obviously not. Make sure your activity level accurately represents you. You are only cheating yourself if you try to under eat.
Make sure you measure or weigh everything you eat, too. It's really easy to make a 300 calorie mistake every day when you are guessing.0 -
ONe of the tools I use is a FIiBIt. It monitors your daily activity and gives you a much more accurate number regarding calorie burn. The FitBit numbers sync up to your MFP account so there's a FitBit adjustment that shows your true activity level.0

Thanks for all the replies, it's very helpful. I was torn over my activity level as I put as sedentary on the basis that I work about 3 days a week and the other days I'm generally not doing a lot (although trying to change that with some exercise routines and running). I think I'll change the level to light activity and see if that gives a more accurate reflection0
