first time running 5 miles

Options
I made a new record today! In the 2 years I've been running I finally made it to 5 miles. I've always wondered why I could never get past 3 and after watching my new HRM during this run, I think I may have been pushing myself too hard and wearing out quickly. I was able to keep it right at 160 bpm (no idea if that is good, I wasn't breathing hard) and as long as I stayed in that pace, I felt as if I could just keep going.

I was only going to run 3 today, so I am really pumped. Just wanted to share.

Also, pretty sure my HRM is giving me way too many calories burned though.

Way ton go. It's all about learning the effort levels you know you can sustain for each distance.

Great job!!!! 160 BPM for me would be really pushing it and getting pretty uncomfortable, but everyone is different.

I am 6 ft and weight 195, so according to the charts I looked up, that is right before the high intensity zone. If I ran with my arms moving at all, it jumped up closer to 170. I am just unsure of the calorie burn that it is registering.
