Vegan or vegetarian?
Vegetarian: Whey is the easy solution if you eat dairy- cheap, effective, easily absorbed.
Vegan: Soy, Hemp, Pea Protein, and Spirulina are all options. There's probably more I'm unaware of. I have heard (but not tried personally) that Sun Warrior brand is good.
ETA: For vegetarian, there's also egg protein if you do eggs but not dairy. From what I've heard, it's not great, but it's an option.0 -
I have a vegan shake recipe for you
1 cup almond milk (I make homemade)
1 tablespoon Nutribiotic Chocolate Protein powder ( or vanilla or plain)
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1/2 tablespoon cocoa powder
1 medjool date pitted
1 frozen chopped up banana
3 ice cubes
1/4 cup Gluten free Oats
Blend till creamy
After you try it out feel free to try new ideas like a few tablespoon nut butter or more cocoa powder or even leave out the cocoa powder and add some cinnamon.
www.ohsheglows.com has some great recipes for vegetarian and vegan lovers.0 -
Most protein powders are vegetarian. There are way fewer vegan options. I haven't tried any vegan powders, but I hear the Garden of Life brand recommended frequently.
Apart from powders, you can use milk, cottage cheese, egg whites, or (my favorite) silken tofu to give body and protein to a smoothie with fruit or other flavors.0 -
A lot of people are fans of Vega brand but i am not one of them. I find it way too sweet (from spirulina) and way too expensive.0

If you are vegetarian and not vegan, use a protein powder and plain greek yogurt, along with almond or coconut milk. Then mix in some fruits, flax seeds or nuts. When I do that, my morning smoothie regularly tops 30g protein!0

The shakeology shakes from Beachbody have 2 Vegan formulas now.....Chocolate & Tropical Strawberry....0

I am vegan and I use Choc Oat milk, 1 banana and a scoop of Yaoh hemp powder as my protein shake/breakfast every day0

Optimum Nutrition makes 3 soy protein powders. (choc. vanilla, strawberry) and the soy protein is about 1/2 the price as whey at the same protein content per serving.0
