lower back pain doing ab workouts.

Im working on building muscle in my ab area. the videos say tighten the abs, i do and a couple seconds later i feel dull pain in my lower back, cant figure out where i am going wrong. no pain when using ellipitical or walking. what am i doing wrong?

Your issue could be that your lower back is not as strong, do to a number of things including poor posture. You may need to do other moves to make your core stronger, such as planks or supermans.0

You need to balance your abs with your back exercises. Do half bridges for 3-5 minutes everyday. Lay on the ground with your knees bent, feet on the floor, and push your stomach up so that your back is curved up. Hold , starting with 1 min and working up to 3-5 mins. Supermans are good but harder. You don't get too sweaty so you can do it whenever you have a few minutes,0

What kinds of ab exercises specifically are you doing?
I have back problems too and I find certain things bother my back and I have to modify some ab exercises.0 -
Pretty much any ecercise where i am on my back moving my legs in the air.0
