I need some help....please

I have been eating correctly (1200 calories per day) and exercising daily (walking 4 miles, cardio videos, squats, crunches, planking, push-ups etc) for 5 weeks now and have gained 4 lbs. What am I doing wrong. It is beginning to stress me and I know that is not good. I have not noticed any body changes either. I need to lose 40 lbs by Christmas. Any suggestions or ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.

You'll probably want to open up your diary so that people can give you advice. You can do it by clicking My Home --> Settings --> Diary Settings.
Have you been taking measurements other than weight? What's happening with those?0 -
My opinion, just by reading your post?
1. Eat more
2. Do some research of your own on BMR and TDEE and why these numbers are so important to you
3. personally evaluate WHY you need to loose "x" number of pounds by Christmas... Will you turn into a pumpkin if you dont??? (kidding, but seriously, this is never a good idea with weight loss.)

Maybe increase your protein/fiber and lessen your carbs a bit?0

I try to eat at least 80 proteins per day.0

So you have lost 90 lbs so far, was that weight loss recent? Was your exercise recent? Opening up your journal will help give some insight. 1200 calories for someone in the 200 lb range is a bit low, especially with daily exercise.0

Perhaps you need more calories. I know it seems crazy but same thing happened to my stepmom after she lost a lot and she increased her cals to 1400 and started dropping like 2 lbs per week.0

According to counter you've lost 94 pounds, which is amazing, but your body is going to react to that. A lot of women have trouble with rubber banding weight. I would think of this mostly as a kind of plateau and vary what you're eating, play with your macronutrient ratio, exercise more, drink lots of water, etc.
It also sounds like you're burning a lot of calories for only eating 1200/day. It's possible you've put your body into starvation mode.0 -

Since we're the same age, could be a combination of erratic hormone levels and possibly building muscle (which weighs more than fat) from the steady exercise.
You've done fantastic so far, just keep yourself really hydrated so you don't retain water and use measurements instead of pounds to judge your progress as you get closer to your goal. Never give up!0 -

Your BMR is how many calories your body burns in a day if you do nothing @ all (think coma) you should not eat below this #.
Your TDEE is your BMR multiplyed by your activity level. Eat less than this. How much less depends on how much & how quickly you wish to lose.

I have the same problem. I started our little town's version of the "biggest loser" but i wasnt losing any weight at all. I work out 5 to 6 times a week with a mixture of Strenght excercise and cardivascular excersices and try to control what i eat as much as possible. I talked to the fitness instructor at the gym and he advised that all my workouts at the moment were turning fat into muscle which explains why i wasnt losing weight at all. My measurements yesterday showed that i've lost centimetres around my bust, waist and hip, not as much as i wanted to but still better than nothing. Well what i am saying is dont feel discourage, 5 weeks is not enough to judge, before you know it, the weight will be dropping. However, make sure you eat properly. If you are excercising everyday, then you need to ensure that you are fueling your body properly. If you dont, your body will go into shutdown mode and retain every thing it can to prevent you from getting sick. Excercises dont work without proper nutrition.0

I would also guess you are possibly understating calories. 1200 a day with that activity level for a sustained duration could wreck havoc on hormonal levels.
Do you ever have any refeed days? These help a lot of people flush fat cells. Not to mention they improve adherence and overall disposition lol. I am in a much better mood after eating 7,000 calories on a Saturday.
Just a gut feeling with no real basis - drop any high intensity cardio, replace with some casual walking, up the calories a little bit and train with very high intensity in the gym. I don't know anyone that has failed following the www.leangains.com guide.0 -
IDK...It took me almost 9 months of my "Life style change" before the wieght really started coming off.. I had to keep reminding myself that I wasnt on a diet but a true life style change - so for a while I stopped weighing myself and continued trying to eat right and exercise as best I could on the regular... And it looked like one day..I put my pants on and they practically feel down around me ankles!!! So hopefully it wont take u so long - but just continue to do the best that u can and yes I also had to learn to eat MORE of the right things including breakfast which I had never liked.. in order to lose the weight!! Who knew!! Good luck and continued success!!0

I see a bit of sodium in your diet but it is just a snapshot, not sure if you rely on prepackaged meals very often. You might be overestimating your calories or you could require more calories.
Also, sometimes our bodies get finicky. I have had long plateaus in the past where after a couple months, my body did start losing weight fairly quickly.0 -
My husband travels and I am home by myself during the week. I usually have 2 WW meals per day. I always have a good breakfast to get my day started. Some days I have Subway salad and then leftovers from the weekend.0
