I have had bariatric surgery and am sorting my diet out so it is more balanced and I am back at the gym every other day. I am averaging between 7/800 calories each day, 50g protein 60g carbs and around 20g fat. I burn on average 350 cals cardio and do 25 mins weights to try to get my muscle mass up. I was losing around half a pund a day but since I have started the excercise back up its been nothing....zero......zilch.....nada!!!

As I am still 17 stones I should be losing weight, ignoring all the starvation mode thing isn't weight loss a very strange thing!!! It's amazing how our bodies like to keep us puzzled! Oh well I am sure it will all kick start again soon. It has to as I am not reducing my exercise or calories and there is only so much I can physically eat at the present.

Give the exercise a rest then, it's only worth a couple of hundred calories anyway.
  • They do say that muscle weight's more than fat, so in theory you are turning your body fat into muscle! hope this is helpful.

I have lost muscle mass as I was doing well with cardio and weights before my op and if I am going to deal with saggy skin issues I need to be exercising. I have lost a lot of strength and overall fitness in the month and a half I have been away from the gym hence the low calorie burn. Although with my low calorie intake it does make my deficit even higher.

After reading these forums it is clear that bodies do respond in very different ways and what seems like common sense in weight loss terms can be different for different people. Thats why I feel it is important to hang in there and keep going!
