Hungry and Irritable

Hi friends.
This is my third time back on MyFitnessPal. I've had so much success in the past, and when I stop is when I gain the weight back. It's been two weeks since I've been back on course and I have lost 2.5 pounds! I have tried for loftier goals of 2lbs/week before, but I think this time slow and steady wins the race. One pound per week is 52 pounds per year, and that's a huge goal!
For now, I am starving! Yes, I'm eating 2000 calories per day. But I was probably eating close to 3000 a day before. It's a big adjustment, and I'm trying to find great low calorie, high volume snack options. Please help with your ideas.
Thanks so much for your support. The network on here is the reason why I've been successful in the past. :-D

Healthy fats and protein are what keep me full. Sometimes that means actually eating less food for the calories, but I find that quality often wins out over quantity.0

I am doing the Eat to Live program (www.drfuhrman.com) and focusing on the huge amounts of salads, beans, and fruits is a Godsend to me. I get to eat a LOT and still stay within my calories. Never thought about this before but the more nutritious your food is to you (feeding you on a cellular level) the more satisfied you feel. I used to watch the clock waiting for my between meal snacks. Now I am lucky if I remember to eat lunch by 2pm! If you are not interested, still try at least to add veggies to your diet. you can add a ton for very few calories. My diary is open if you are interested.0

Stove popped popcorn popped in olive oil. Low-cal pita with 2 Tbs hummus. Greek yogurt. Fruits, especially berries and grapes.0

I am always hungry too!
I find Almonds to be very satisfying and I also love Low-Sodium V-8 (8oz = 50 calories and it's super filling). Veggie burgers on a roll (Calise brand is good and calorie reasonable) with tomato and lettuce.
Good luck. I have simpy resigned myself to feeling hungry assuming my stomach will shrink at some point and get used to the new amount of food.0 -
Protein, protein and more protein :-) I know it's the only way I feel full. Your diary isn't open so I can't see what you've been eating so it's hard to make suggestions.0

Thanks for all the awesome suggestions!!0

It's been said, but it's so true. Have protein with every meal, and always have fruits and veggies available and ready to snack on. You'll have trouble eating as many as 2000 calories a day if you start doing that0

Veggies!
Get a steamable bag of broccoli and put a few tbsp of salsa (or you could try ranch, cheese sauce etc...just watch the calories with other things...salsa is only 10 cals). Eat the whole thing. That's like 4 cups of broccoli and will make you very full.
Grab a bag of baby carrots and just eat until your full...
The hard part is knowing if your eating because your HUNGRY or if your eating because your BORED, SAD, MAD, STRESSED etc....
The way I know (and believe me it doesn't always stop me from eating crap food)....is if I feel cranky and hungry, but I've eaten recently (so shouldn't be hungry)...I tell myself "You have a choice of carrots, celery, cucumber or an apple and eat as much as you want"....if I turn my nose up at all that food, then I know I'm not hungry I just want to eat to make myself feel better.0 -
I don't know what you're eating, but I felt fuller on 1700 calories by avoiding processed foods than I did eating 2000 of boxed stuff. Also, drink water. I know sometimes I used to think I was hungry when I was actually thirsty!0
