Stationary Bike

I am trying to figure out how many calories I burned riding at 30 mph on a stationary bike. I rode for one hour. Can anyone help me out?

30mph? Not sure how many calories that would be but, congratulations - you're faster than the average rider on the Tour de France.

I rode for one hour and the distance measure said I went 30 miles, so....

Perhaps the odometer wasn't reset to zero? (or maybe it's in kms)

30mph on a bike, sustained for an hour (even with the benefit of no wind resistance) would be a pretty amazing ride.

You are good. I only got 12 miles in 50 minutes.
  • The number of calories you burn is determined not just by the speed and time, but also the the level of resistance and your personal weight. No one can give you a straight answer on this question.
  • Don't most stationary bikes tell you a rough estimation of calories burnt during the ride? (I know all the ones I have had / used tells me that info)

No, it is an old exercise bike and doesn't tell how many calories you have burned. Just has rpm and distance. Also has charts for figuring watts, but I can't figure that out.

i have to go REALLY fast to do 30kms an hour..I can't imagine doing 30 miles per hour!! haha. I have an old bike too and I generally do 20-25km's an hour and I use 7 - 7.5 calories per minute. Not a direct science, but when I go to the internet and search for calories burned, and tried out a couple of calculators that came up, it suggested 9.5 calories per minute and I thought that was probably a little high for me & I didn't want to over estimate.
