Fitbit Calorie Adjustment

Hey all,
Just a quick question to those who have a Fitbit because I'm a little confused. How on earth is the calorie adjustment that pops up into my MFP exercise log calculated? I don't put much stock into the calories burned function of the Fitbit because it includes your basal metabolic rate (I presume) and, as a whole, just can't be that accurate. However, I am curious is to how this adjustment is calculated. Is it what Fitbit assumes my caloric burn would be without including BMR?
Thanks for the help!

The fitbit calorie adjustment is whatever you earned over and above what MFP already figures you'll burn in a day.0
