Ever just feel low?

Today when I got back from work I was just feeling so low about myself! Even though I ate right and biked to and from work(about 5 miles there and 5 miles back!) and yet I was still feeling poorly. Decided to do a quit 15 minute circuit trainer from pinterest and yet I still feel like crap! I just feel like I'm NEVER going to lose the weight. 40 more pounds honestly feels like forever! What do you do when you're feeling low about your body?

  • I get like this too... lately especially. It seems like I'm on this unending journey of trying to get the body I want. So that's when I read fitness articles. I often read bodybuilding.com articles on people's transformations and that really makes me feel better. I think, if these people can do it, then I can! And I realize it takes time so it makes me less upset about how I feel like I'm not changing. That or I clean my house because that makes me feel better ;)

Here are the transformations articles if you're interested! http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/bbmainmind/transformations.html

I weighed in today and lost about 4 pounds so I am not feeling low, but I do get into low moods when it just doesn't feel like I want to spend the time watching what I eat and doing the exercise I need to do. The worst is when I focus on the long term and it feels lilke I will never get there.

However, I am mostly an optimist about things and I try to live for today and get whatever enjoyment I can get out of the day.

First, hello from the other side of the freeway (Springfield). I know the feeling very very well. Though I struggle with depression so it may be more prevalent with me than with you. How often do you feel this way? Is it seldom? Weekly? You may be dealing with depression. Life in Oregon, college and this general area can do that to a person.

I get season depression through the fall/winter time(I bet you know this all too well!) but usually in the summer I'm pretty happy. But I've never really adamantly through the summer tried to lose weight or almost been at 200lbs when I started. So, I think because I'm not "seeing" the results I want to, I'm getting impatient! It SUCKS! I do, however, want to look decent before winter and my SD kicks in again.

I go back to an old picture to remind my self of how I used to look and feel and how far I have come. Also I might go back to a body type that I really want and watch a few body building videos to remotivate my self.

I know that feeling so well. I read on here about people who need to lose 5 or even 20 pounds and I almost laugh. I weigh 565 and have to get down to 500 before I can qualify for surgery. I lose a few pounds and there is NO noticeable difference. However, after having perved your profile I can say in all honest you are a very attractive young lady and while you personally may not notice a difference I bet the people around you do.

Maybe it was just a bad day at work.
  • I hear perfectionism, and it's a downer. I too am (was) one. I practice everyday to let that go. I can get so tied up in my mind and just want to quit.
I also hear you doing too much. You need a rest. Take a day off.
I have found that what I think is what I attract to me, so I think good thin things and it is happening to me!
What is in your mind is SO very important to everything. Let go the negatives and embrace the positives!
I also, to keep my mind upbeat, make small goals, like 5lbs. That makes my remaining 50lbs look so much more reachable.
I gave myself a beautiful fake canary diamond ring at 25lbs gone, it's well done and beautiful (one day it will be real), in 2 more lbs I will be 199, under the 200lb mark! I haven't decided what I will get. But will be there soon. I have 50more to go and that's a LOT of presents (not food ones)
I also practice positive thinking and do a gratitude list in my mind every night when I go to bed. It really lifts my thinking and nothing seems to bother me as it used to!
RainHoward does have a point. If this is a long lasting feeling, get some help and talk. You may very well be depressed.
I personally think you just had a bad day. We ALL have them. Being a young woman, it could be hormonal as well. That is very real. This too shall pass!
