I am trying to figure out why my fancy scale that measures body fat and weight is saying that my weight is going down, but my body fat % is going up! Oh NO!!!!! That is not what I want at all. What am I doing wrong?

Those scales are ridiculously inaccurate at measuring body fat. I wouldn't even pay attention to that number.
  • Those scales aren't always very accurate and can fluctuate a lot based on your water intake and when you last ate, etc. I would pay more attention to your body measurements. But do make sure that you are eating a sufficient amount of protein so you are not losing muscle.

Body fat can decrease slower than your weight. My fancy-dancy scale did the same thing at first. But the body fat number will eventually decrease too over time. You aren't doing anything wrong. Adding some strength training to cardio can make your body fat number go down faster in my past experience.

this, but it also may be a good idea to take a second look at WHAT (and how much) it is you are eating and exercising. but yes, those body fat scales suck at accuracy. I have two, one says 14.2 another says 15.1 and a friends (when I step on it) says 13.8.... I like his the best... lol

I'm having exactly the same problem! :grumble: My BF reading is 37.4% - I'm eating loads of protein and going to gym 3-4 times a week. Will be weighed & measured by my trainer in a couple of weeks - hoping for good news from him.
