Quick question! Simple answer, but not sure!!

I take a core class @ my gym. It consists of crunches & roll-ups, squats, planks, and a bunch of random stuff
The class is pretty intense & I always leave sweating soooo...

Why do I not get extra calories for it  ?

Why wouldn't you get "extra" calories?
  • When you log any strength on mfp it doesn't show you get to eat more calories like it does with cardio. I'm always hungrier on days I add weights and such, but I can't eat more!

There is "strength training" under the cardio exercises...it doesn't give you a ton, but it's something! Or you might consider investing in a heart rate monitor for accuracy.

There's also "circuit training" under cardio...that gives you more calories and probably better describes what you're doing!

^^What she said. use an HRM and plug it in as cardio.
  • Are your subscription fees paid up? You won't get your calories if you have any outstanding parking tickets or unreturned library books. They'll pay out the calories as soon as you take care of those other things.
  • Thank you for the idea to get a hrm!!!
  • And Captain...you explained it perfectly! THANK YOU!
  • You could try logging as "Calisthenics" - it covers exercises such as sit-ups, squats, lunges, dips, crunches, push ups etc which benefit strength & cardiovascular fitness
