36 year old from Iowa with 25-30 lbs to lose

I feel that after a number of years of being overweight that it is time to do something about it. I would like to lose 25-30 lbs over the next 3-6 months. My wife got me signed up for MFP today, so that I can begin tracking my food intake. We recently purchased Insanity and if I can get over the flu will be starting it this week. My wife and I have battled our weight for quite some time and I want to keep up my end of the bargain with her and support her efforts. I also want to be a good role model for my 3 boys and show that if you give 100% effort that good things usually follow. I am a basketball official and need to shed some of the weight before mid-November when the season begins. I don't want my weight to be a barrier for me any longer, I want to create better eating habits and make exercise a part of my daily life. Any support is welcome!

Hi-I am from Iowa too (recently moved to Texas) and 36 yrs old--female though. I just started this journey last week so I am fairly new here! Just wanted to say hi.
  • Thanks for the encouragement, it is changes that we are making for the long haul and not just a short term fix.
  • Always nice to hear from a fellow (or former) Iowan. Thanks and good luck to you as well on your weight loss journey!

Yes, it is. We just moved here in June so still an Iowan at heart. Was born there, all our family is there, and it will always be home. Good luck with your new way of life. How is everything going? Today was a hard day for me...I made scotcheroos (bars with rice krispies & chocolate topping) and couldn't resist a treat. Anyway, hope things are going well for you and your wife!

Is 4 years in Nebraska close enough? Sorry, MA by birth, CA by choice, but loved the mid-west!
  • Fellow Iowan here. I've sent a friend request. Good luck in your journey.
