    Glute bridges:

For extra resistance, they can also be done like so:

    Even more challenging:

All that being said, the best way to improve your glutes would be to join a gym and engage in heavy resistance training.

This is my go-to at-home exercise for a better butt, Teresa Tapp's "Diva Derriere": http://www.t-tapp.com/articles/divad/index.html

I won't lie, it hurts. It hurts too much for me to do it every day. But it's great for the butt... you can feel it working deep inside the glute muscles.

Awesome home workout from Bret Contreras (a.k.a. the Glute Guy). Master bodyweight moves and then add weight/resistance.

I am doing Jillian Michaels Killer Buns and Thighs. You don't need a gym, just maybe some hand weights to add more resistance.

Butt Bible with Pauline Nordine. You can find her workouts on youtube or order through amazon. You do each workout level for two weeks. Amazing killer workout with good results fast. A lot of butt bridges (Glute bridge) and squats and so forth.

A gym is totally unnecessary for glute exercises. You don't even need weights to do it. Donkey kicks work wonders, so do glute bridges. Also, I've heard great things about Brazil Butt Lift!

Did this last night and I'm sore today, also I do like the Brazilian Butt Lift ...I just don't do his cardio workout just the sculpting. You don't need the gym. Just 20 to 30 minutes a few times a week. :)

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you're already doing some glute work, you'll probably get through the first 2 levels ok, but you will beg for a padded toilet seat when you start level 3. No lie. You'll burn extra calories laughing at all the stuff Pauline says. Yoga Booty Ballet is a lot of fun, too.

Personally, I like to use the video's from blogilates.com to shake up my workouts. Cassey has some great ones for glutes and lower body, and you'll definitely feel the burn!
