I am am a teacher and I am usually not a big breakfast eater during the school year. During the summer and esp lately have been having a decent bfast... eggs, toast, fruit, yadda-yadda. But my typcial bfast when I am running out the door might be a fiber one bar, or an apple and piece of string cheese along with my morning coffee So I was wondering would I do better with a protein shake?? What would you suggest (price wise- taste wise- and easy to get my hands on?) I leave out the door around 7:15 and my lunch is at 11:30... normally I won't have time for any sort of snack. Thanks in advance!

A protein shake may work if you can't wait until lunch to eat. You can make one the night before (or quickly make it in the morning) and put in a travel cup and bring with you... you can drink while you commute to work or while you are at work.
I make one on my early mornings. Takes me no more than 5 minutes. I put in frozen fruit, water, a scoop of protein powder and a bit of yogurt and blend. I have a travel drink cup that I bring and drink mine at my desk in the morning while catching up on emails.
I love the powder I have now. It's Sportzone Vanilla. Cost about $25 for a large tub of it and I use one scoop in my smoothie.0 -
I don't usually replace a meal with a protein shake, I use it as a supplement to my diet to help me reach my protein requirements.
(My macros are set at 40%carbs, 30%fat 30%protein.) Seems like you are maybe using the MFP set macros right?
I checked your diary. you seems to be doing fine meeting your protein goals. Are you just looking for something more convenient and quick?
Prices vary widely depending on the brand, the type (whey isolate, concentrate etc) and there are tons of flavours.0 -
Yes, I seem to be doing fine with my protein.... usually over. It is just set at whatever MFP put me at... haven't figured how to change it OR if I need to change it. So I am looking for convience- quick- and healthy. OR is running out the door with an apple and string cheese an okay way to go?? School is starting in a couple weeks and just trying to plan and figure out which way to go. I wasn't really thinking about "replacing" my meal... but I guess if it has fruit and protein in it... I would be doing just that. Okay or NOT okay?0

Okay!
if a fruit and string cheese hold you over till lunch.. go with that.. if you wanna have a little more substance add in the protein shake!
Either way.. OKAY!0 -
