My left calf muscle is the only one sore?

Options
I have been pushing myself at the gym really hard the past three nights, my left calf muscle is the only one sore. It hurts and feels stiff when I flex my muscle or walk, this morning I was limping around for a bit. Does anyone know why only one leg is hurting? Help! Please!!

Perhaps you've injured just your left calf muscle. I've had an injury on just my left leg for a few months now. I would suggest doing some calf stretches on both legs and taking it easy for awhile as pushing it physically while having an injury can make it worse.

both my calf muscles really hurt because of running on the treadmill. i haven't been on it apart to walk for at least the last week and have had no pain at all. you just need to take it easy. i have been using the cross trainer.

maybe you need new trainers? my heels have gone on mine. woops. so i'm buying a pair tomorrow and going to ease back into running.

also, it could be your gait (i'm assuming you run?) i did email this guy to look at mine a week ago but he hasn't got back to me. people :explode:

Your left leg is probably weaker than the other. I hurt my left butt all the time doing squats

Eventually, strength should even out on both sides of your body. Pay attention to how your weaker side is doing and stop, even if your strong side is still going. That may slow your progress a bit, but it'll be worth it if you save yourself injury and muscle soreness.

You definitely have a strain and need to possibly look at your trainers as most problems caused come from trainers that are either too old or the incorrect gait for you. You need to have a proper specialised store sort you out. If there is one thing you need to spend money on, that is a decent pair of trainers. Secondly do massage on a foam roller. Like having a physio in your own home. I cannot live without mine. Rolls out all the lumps, bumps and stiffness. Also you might be compensating one leg more favourably for the other so make sure when you are exercising to concentrate on using both legs equally. Hope that helps.

This is weird because my left calf is hurting today too. It almost never happens. I plan on using a heating pad, doing a lot of stretches and getting some R&R. Its worked for me in the past. :)

I have this problem too. My left leg is slightly longer than my right and therefore my alters my gait. You would never know by looking at me, and I don't actually notice it, but I if I have pain/injury it is always the left. I've had achilles tendonitis, hip pain, knee problems, calf pain, etc. all only in the left leg. I would take a day or two off to heal a bit and then work on what others have said, stretching and strengthening and slowly go back to your normal routine.

I tore my left calf muscle last summer. It was only a partial tear, but it felt horrible and not the good pain one usually gets after a work out. Go see a doctor (I would recommend getting multiple professional opinions) to rule out the possibility. Trust me, it's no fun. Over a year later I am seeing a chiropractor to get rid of all the scar tissue that built up because I had continued to train (swimming, running, jump rope, weight lifting) when I THOUGHT my leg was better but only made things worse, and this injury has grown to give me a lot more leg/foot problems. I haven't been allowed to run, walk, jump, squat, lunge etc. since I've been seeing my chiro at the end of June. Even she was scared that my muscles would just up and snap when I started seeing her. It's been about 2 months since I started receiving real treatment and I'm only 75% better.

Don't go through what I am, get professional opinions!

Thanks for all the replies! All really helpful! I have noticed it's possibly my shoes, and my positioning of my feet on the stationary bike.
