What is your definition of fit?

This has been something I have been thinking a lot about lately.. because I feel more fit now than ever before. My workouts are very crossfit like. I do a lot of Kettlebell swings, burpees, pushups, sprints, plyometrics, etc. I can easily burn 360 or so calories in less than 30 minutes if I'm really on it (HRM). There isn't really a definition to me for this type of "fit".
When I see a runner post a mile/time it's like whoah that person is fast and fit. When I see someone in the gym snatch up a crazy amount of weight with a fantastic body, I think the same thing.. that person is fit.
How do you define fit?
I tested myself with this a few nights ago.. and I can run 1/2 mile, do 50 frog jumps, 50 pushups, and 50 semi-super burpees (burpee with a push up and a knee tuck) in 26 minutes. To me that feels fit-but I've seen it done much faster.

I feel that I'm fit when I can play 90 minutes of soccer with the same level of intensity from kick off to final whistle, step out the door and run a quick 6 mile run, and not have to tuck in my gut, which I've had to do often times in my life.0

Very good question, with lots of different answers. I don't know that I even have a definition. I guess it would be a certain level of cardio & functional strength. What level & what ratio, I relly dont know0

To me fit is about being a 'healthy weight' and size and being toned (no more flabby bits!), and have good endurance, I have an idea of how I want to look that's realistic and I'll hopefully get there within the next year. I'd also love to play a team sport, like I did in high school, like netball or rugby and be able to run for those 90 minutes and still have some in the tank!0

Yep. See, I'd say that is fit!0 -

Right!!
My answer: Anyone in better shape than me.0 -
To me fit is when I can do the things I want, need and love to do without having to stop because my body is slowing me down.0

The original definition of fit is "fit for purpose" which means you need a goal that defines your purpose. Fit for me would be a sub-hour 10K, for example, or being able to do 20 full-body push-ups, or a single pull-up. It can be as simple as being able to run for a bus and catch it, or enjoy a family hiking trip without discomfort!0

Fit to me means having enough endurance and body strength to maintain an active lifestyle. To be able to reach and maintain aerobic level movement for a decent period and able to lift heavy objects without pulling a muscle. I've never really thought about what a minimum of the "decent period" or "heavy objects" would be, but if you can't run to catch the bus or easily pick up large bag of dog food or fertilizer then I wouldn't consider you very fit.
You (OP) sound fit to me.0 -
I probably am considered fit and athletic by any standardized testing, but I always think of it as something just beyond where I am now. :laugh:0

Simple. 90% or better score on the USAF PT test.0

"Fit" to me, personally, means:
1. 6'0", 205, 8% body fat;
2. 40-yard dash in less than 4.6 seconds;
3. Mile in less than 5 minutes;
4. 500 lb. deadlift;
5. 400 lb. squat;
6. 350 lb. bench press;
7. 30+ pull-ups; and
8. 30+ dips.
Let's just say, I've got a ways to go.
Fun idea for a post.0 -

Still tucking in the gut, but getting there, LOL!0 -
How do you define fit?
Simply, to be able to achieve the tasks you need/want to achieve.
If all you do is eat, work and sleep, then you're fit for that purpose if you can cope with it. I'm what people may consider fit (I train for at least 30 minutes every day), yet I doubt I could run a marathon. Similarly, a marathon runner may have problems keeping up with me if I climbed up a climbing wall. So the answer to "is he fit?" is "fit for what?".0 -

This... it's an internal feeling for me, not something I can measure, except maybe lower blood pressure? Fit and health are kind of synonymous to me personally. IF I feel good inside my body, genuinely healthy and good, I'll consider myself "fit".0
