I take a multivitamin, Iron every other day to help control my anemia and fish oil pills three times a day for joint health.

Vitamin D is associated with a healthy metabolism and helps the body process calcium. These are the recommended doses of vitamin D by age.

Children up to 13 years - 5 mcg (200 IU)
    14-18 years - 5 mcg (200 IU)
    19-50 years - 5mcg (200 IU)
    51-70 years - 10 mcg (400 IU)
    71+ years - 15 mcg (600 IU)

If you spend a lot of time outdoors you may not want to be taking as much, due to the fact that vitamin D is absorbed naturally by exposure to sunlight. If you spend time in the sun for 10-15 mins twice a week chances are you are absorbing enough naturally.
