Help with diet & how to increase my weekly loss

Hi Everyone
I have lost 23lbs so far since Jan which isn't alot really :( I am averaging at 1lb per week when I stay on track. Some weeks I work really hard & still only lose 1lb. I know that I shouldn't be ungrateful but it just doesn't seem to matter how hard I work now, I still only lose 1lb. I don't feel like the loss reflects how hard I've worked that week.

What things help you to lose more a week than I have??
I do exercise.
Thanks

  • A pound a week is nothing to scoff at. It sounds like you are doing really well. With only 7 pounds to go, why do you feel the need to rush it? This weight loss is sustainable.

The only thing I can think of to get more results would be to maybe limit carbs and sugar? Hard to say because your diary is closed.,

Ideally I have another 21lbs to go but the 7 lb is my first target.
    I dont know.
I have friends doing Weight Watchers who are losing 3lb a week....so I feel I am going really wrong somewhere??
    Thanks for your advice x
  • Are you working out regularly? I saw regular weight loss when I worked out 3 times a week. But when I increased to 4 times I week, and counted calories, the weight really started to come off. I do cardio 4 times a week and strength training 2 of the 4 days as well.

I was doing WW and lost quite a bit of weight but then plateaued and actually gained a pound and stayed there for some weeks. I started counting the calories along with my points (26) to find I wasn't even eating 1200 a day! It makes you lose a ton of weight at first but its really bad in the long run. You're better off only losing 1 pound per week.

Wish I could give you some pointers, but I'm averaging 1/2 pound a week! Yep, 2 pounds a month for 3 months now! I work out 6 days a week for about 45 mins, eat between 1200 and 1400 calories a day. One thing I've been doing is weighing, measuring, etc. to make sure I'm counting calories right. We'll see how it goes....

I have always hated exerise (or at least I thought I did). I haven't been doing this for very long, so take my comments for what they're worth. But anyway, I just started out with a little bit and have gradually increased my exercise. I can't believe it, but I actually look forward to it now. I just feel so much better when I'm more active. I have a limited amount of time, but I get on the treadmill just about every day. I walk for 40 minutes, and rather than increase the time, I increase the speed a little bit each day. It's amazing how my muscles are responding. The other thing I've grown to really like is bike riding. I do that for another 40 minutes in the evening. My weight loss is not setting any records, but the weight is going down and I feel happier just knowing that I'm taking better care of myself.

Studies show that the best weight loss goals should be 1-2 pounds per week.

Being bluntly honest....You say 21 pounds, yet your goal is at 7. Your responses leave a question of how much you WANT to live a healthy lifestyle. I say, get honest with yourself. Set your goals to what YOU WANT. And as you get closer to attaining, get off the weight number and focus on your Body Fat %, or measurements. Work out consistently with a combination of Cardio and Weights. This does not have to be extremes, 20-30 minutes a day or longer if you can. Use the calorie goals within MFP and TRACK EVERYTHING until you have it down.

You will succeed if you choose to make the choices that get you there.
