Anyone Adopt, in the process, or an adoptee?

Well, I was "adopted" by my step mother (after my father kidnapped me from my mom) but it's not a positive story. lol There are people in my family who adopted children that no one wanted (mentally handicapped, severe health problems, etc) which is a very positive story.
I wasn't legally adopted by my step-father (when I moved back in with my Mom at 14 yo), but he treated me like his own and I have awesome memories of him. He stood by me through everything, and I'm sure it wasn't easy! He was a real Dad. He died at age 56, in 2008.
I was pretty cut to shreds on a post where I suggested adopting over surrogacy. :ohwell:0 -
Thanks so much for replying! I am in no way trying to start one of those messy catty arguments on what way is best to parent a child....I'm just wanting to make some pals who have either been through it, or are wanting to go through it.
LOL... I'm so happy you had a wonderful Step-father who took you in! That's what we all need.....someone to love us!0 -
Adopted child here. Was in and out of foster care for a long time & finally adopted at 9. Was considered "unadoptable" because of damage & age. Seems like an odd topic, are you planning on adopting a child?0
