Sandwiches that can be made the night before?

Hi everyone,

Being an awesome wife, I pack breakfast and lunch for my husband

Because he leaves around 5am to go to work I pack everything the night before and put his bag in the fridge.
Now I'm looking for new ideas what I can pack him for lunch, he usually (always) gets a sandwich and veggies with dip.
Most days he gets 2 slices of bread with miracle whip and mustard (we keep different kinds in the fridge) and then lunchmeat and cheese.

How can I pimp those sandwiches without a) lettuce getting limp or b) the bread getting soggy?

Any ideas are welcome!

I tend to work really odd early hours s well. I love making lettuce wraps. So I take the lettuce and put down my cheese, lunchmeat, tomatoes, onion, and w/e else i want and wrap it up in the lettuce... Then i take that lettuce wrap and I wrap it in a napkin and then lots of papertowels. then place it in a tupperware container or plastic bag or wrap in foil? either way but then that way it doesn't get all soggy. Plus then if i want mayo or ranch to dip it in I put it on the side in a container that way it doesn't make it soggy either.

For sandwhiches I do the same thing. I leave off the mayo/or mustard and put it on the side until lunch... and leave off the lettuce and wrap seperatly with papertowel. And then just wrap the bread with the meat and cheese with papertowl that way the bread doesnt get soggy.

    Hope that helps.

Try using different kinds of cheese like provolone or mozz cheese.

Banana and peanut butter sandwiches are legit.
    *Edited* DON'T SMOOSH THE NANNERS!
Instead, slice and layer 'em. SLICE AND LAYER!! >:O

    Homemade mayo/aolis > Miracle whip

    High quality bread

    High quality meats and cheeses

put condiments under lettuce or cheese so there isa barrier between it and the bread so it doesn't get soggy

Put the condiments between the meat and cheese slices instead of on the bread....
  • keep the bread in a separate container. That's what i do when i am packing pulled pork sandwiches for my BF. I pack his bread and cheese together then the pulled pork in a separate container.

I agree with the above poster about high quality meat and cheeses. Try getting thin sliced meat and cheese from your deli. also pack it kinda like a lunchable/build-your-own lunch, just put all the elementa into separate bags or tupperware, jazz it up with son avocado or jalapenos. Make your own seasoned mayo/sandwich spread. Also try doing sandwiches on different types of bread, sour dough, pita, naan, pumpernickel, rye.
