It's busy here...I wrote a post yesterday but I'm pretty sure I didn't 'post topic'. If I'm repeating please forgive me!
I wondered if there was anyone my age group (55), most seem to be younger?
Been big for many years, was last a normal weight about 20 yrs ago, maybe more.
I'm excited about MFP! At last something that I think will work for me.
In the 6 days I have lost 4lb so far.
It's like running a bank account - and I'm good at balancing my money and not going overdrawn so I can do the same here.
I am finding it almost entirely painless as I can cook what I would normally cook but just have to budget for it by cutting a little out here and a little out there and controlling portions.
I had already given up all the really bad stuff before I started here and had lost a wee bit. (actually peaked at 102kg but have been usually about 97-100kg the last few years. (100kg = 220lbs). My husband has joined in. He only needs to lose about 21lb but has a lot to gain if he does, as it should help with his raised blood pressure.
I'm in UK if that is important to anyone wanting to invite me to friend them.

Welcome!
4 lbs in 6 days is AMAZING. I am on day 61 now and have lost 10 lbs. It's coming off too slow for me, Im trying a few different things / ways to lose. Seeing what calorie intake is best for me.
Just wanted to say hello, welcome, and WE CAN DO THIS!0 -
I too am older. I'm 59 and in love with this website. I have lost my first five lbs. My husband and I are going on a cruise this Dec. so that has kept me going. As we are older it is a little harder to loose but we must keep going to reach our goals. Keep up the good work and hang in there. I have really increased my walking to 60 min. daily. In doing this I get more cal. but I never use them so it helps change my body and but the scale isn't moving as fast as I would like but know it will come at some point. It didn't come on in a day and won't go in a month. Keep smiling and counting!0

Belated thanks for that encouragement. Three years on, I reached my goal weight briefly around Christmas 2013 but then put back on 20lbs that I keep trying to shift. Still get compliments on how much I've lost. MFP has really worked for me,0
