Any research done on green tea was done on the tea itself, not any extracts. I'd say it is a waste of money.

I've tried it... didn't do anything noticeable.

Green tea itself to drink has been rumoured to assist in weight loss but only with an average of 4-6 cups of it daily. I would imagine it's the extra caffeine in it that can help a touch.

I used to take it every day before every meal and I did notice an extra energy boost because of it. I have read articles stating that it will help boost your metabolism, but I'm not sure by how much. Instead of taking the supplements, I now just drink a couple cups of green tea every morning. This has been a nice replacement for my usual coffee or pop in the morning. I'd say it's worth a try, but it's up to you.
