Can you eat only Organic foods and still lose weight??

Help!! Before I started my weight loss journey all of my food were Organic. Now that I am trying to lose weight I find myself buying sugar free this, low fat that, etc. I still buy all Organic meats, fruits, and veggies, but would love to continue to eat all organic as I was doing before. Is there a way to eat all Organic foods while losing weight?? I am healthier now that I have lost a good amount of weight but am I really "healthy" because of all the processed crap I eat now??

Processed food is really bad for you. Just watch your macros, stay within your cals, and you should be fine.

Not if you eat more calories than you burn! I know a couple of vegans who are overweight because they are sedentary and eat a lot.

I don't see why not. You may have to forego some of the processed "low fat" or artifically sweetened things that you are eathing now, but you can either eat less of the "real" organic version, or substitute something else. For example, you can substitute seltzer with just a splash of organic fruit juice for soda. Go to a large organic food store and see what you can find. Unfortunately, you will probably end up paying more--but that has always been true of organic food.

I'm doing this primarily organic/local/home grown. We get alot of our bulk items from a local food coop. Stuff like oatmeal, oat bran, wild blueberries, etc. We get a lot of fruits and veggies locally at the farmer's market and from our garden. We raise laying hens and get eggs from that. Yes, its possible.

Check out "Eat to Live" by Dr Fuhrman. You can eat all the organic produce, or just produce in general your heart desires. I've been following it for six weeks and have lost 26 lbs since I started.

You probably would be a good candidate for the Paleo diet.

A lot of the "light" or "low fat" foods in supermarkets just substitute something else bad for you for the fat. It's better to eat real food, with healthy choices and measured portions.

Organic just refers to conditions of growing / raising foods, no real relevance to losing weight. You could get fat on organic sugar or organic steak just like the standard one.

I don't eat sugar free this, fat free that. There is no reason to but you could cut the portions of what you were eating previously or find lower calorie substitutions.

For example, I never cared for mayo so on a sanwhich I may use mustard or maybe hummus. On a salad, instead of high calorie dressings, I may use salsa.

You don't need sugar-free/fat free stuff AT ALL. One big change this time around is that I'm not consuming artificial sweeteners. Instead of having 5-6 diet cokes a week, I have a small (4 oz) italian soda once a week or so. I do occasionally end up eating some junky reduced sugar stuff, but I am tr ying to eat real food instead of junk - all the low-fat, fat-free, sugar free stuff does is keep you in the habit of eating junk (and dumping chemicals into your body).

of course! It's often harder to count calories with non-processed foods though. But if you start doing it, eventually it will be easy.

Absolutely. There's no need to buy processed foods to lose weight.

Organic or non-organic has nothing to do with weight loss. Cutting sugar is great, but low fat is not always better. I understand it's high in calories and when trying to lose weight it's a quick way to cut calories, but our bodies need fat. Don't cut it too low.
