Hi everyone,
I'm new to the site, but not new to the challenge of losing weight and keeping it off. I moved to Calgary last November from Michigan where I had lived for the previous 11 years. It was a choice that I felt I had to make due to a work situation. I left everything I loved back in Michigan and did my best to embrace my new surroundings and adventure.
I decided to make a goal of losing weight and managed to lose quite a bit since I've been here, but it's been a roller coaster of sorts, both emotionally and physically. I arrived in Calgary weighing in at 457 lbs. The heaviest I've ever been was 494 lbs back in 2004, but I went on the Atkins Diet and lost almost 85 lbs. Between 2005 - 2011 the weight would come back and I'd fight to take some off, and rinse and repeat.
Arriving in Calgary, I had some changes, such as walking to and from the train station that added some "mandatory" exercise each day, which was nice. I started to make better decisions about what I was eating and I dropped the fast food.
Today I weigh 414 and I have a goal of breaking the 400 lb barrier by the end of September. This is where you can help me...
Whenever I get close to the goal of less than 400 lbs, I have a trigger of sorts that starts to tell me that I'm not worthy of obtaining the goal. It's a mental thing and I'm working on doing affirmations every day to tell myself that I am worth it!
This time, I'm going to get there, and well beyond. This time I won't give up... I would love some support along the way and would be happy to join you in your journey as a supporting friend as well.
