Creating new goals - how far is too far?

First of all, let me admit that I am now happy with my weight. As of this morning, I'm at 201.3 pounds. If I stopped right now, I would live my life happy and healthy.

But I'm still very goal-oriented.

I started off at 266 pounds, and wanted to get to 235 pounds. I thought it would take me a long time to get there, but in reality it happened in a bout 6 weeks. Going from sedentary to active and eliminating the worst foods and drinks paid off FAST.

So I changed my goal. Wanted to get to 225 pounds.....but I said I wanted to slip under the 200 mark at 199 pounds.

Technically, that 199 was always the ultimate goal, with smaller achievements along the way.

Sometime in the next week or two, I should get to 199. But now, I find myself leaning towards expanding it to 185.

So I ask my friends here - am I pushing it too far? Is 185 acceptable, or is that going overboard? And if not, that what IS overboard?

A little help and advice would be awesome.

Just don't shoot for your birth weight. ;-)

Seriously though, how tall are you? It's been a while since I saw you in person.

I'm 6' and my eventual goal weight is 190. Unless I decide to do some weight training and it puts me over that, then I would just base my progress on measurements.

6 foot. 190 seems right, but my Wii Fit says 184.5 is "healthy weight". Hell, if it starts with a 1, I think Im happy

I'd say get there and see how you look and feel. At our age, once we reach our goals, maintaing can be the next challenge. ;-)

I think that anywhere in healthy BMI and body fat limit is ok and it just depands on how you feel. I personally am aiming for the lower spectrum of both but I guess guys want more muscle so you may be happy with more. I believe that as long as it is healthy it's not too far.
