Our town is having a carnival. This is day 3 of 4 days. I live upstairs on the street where there is all the food. There is a caramel corn stand right across from me and I have been smelling it now for 3 days. I want some so bad. If I went and got a bag I would eat it all. I have come so close...all the rationalizing is taking place...Oh just do it...one time a year wont hurt...I could just start in fresh tomorrow...I would walk off the damage...but no...I am so far getting through it.

Don't do it man...I broke down and ate a cupcake today and totally regret it. Be strong!0

We also have a festival going on this weekend.... I have went every year... i love funnel cakes... I decided this year not to go... I'm pretty bummed out too... All my friends are out there drinking, eating listening to bands... And I'm stuck in the house..0

Hang in there - if you get it you won't feel better. If you're anything like me you'll regret it and just want more unfulfilling junk!0
-
don't do,be strong, look at the people eating the junk for motivation,,0

I'm the kind of person who would buy the bag and split it with someone... Usually my daughter who knows to eat it all or throw it away when she's had her fill. Maybe you could buy some and eat a little and throw the rest in a trash can that's outside your home?0

Umm, I would go eat it (well, *I* wouldn't because it's probably not vegan, but you know what I mean). It IS once a year. As long as you don't get some every day of the four days, no biggie. It's not going to do any damage.0

Just say to yourself - it won't taste as good as watching the scale go down feels (and although temporary- the sugar will spike your insulin and stall your progress) So...........Hang in there !
Good Luck0 -
A treat every now and then is not a bad thing. If you deprive yourself of all of the good stuff that you enjoy when you finally get it you will over indulge which in the end will make you feel worse.0

Is caramel corn really that bad? It seems you could do a lot worse. Maybe go with someone so they can eat half of it. Great job for holding out so far but im just saying, if you really, really want some then have a little.0

Out of all the horrible food at carnivals, caramel corn isn't all that bad.0

Go for a walk. Or a run. Or some sort of work out. Then go have some! Ask them for half (even if you have to pay for it all it is still worth it) Don't deprive yourself, you have to live! Love yourself and good luck0
-
If you don't indulge a little, you'll feel deprived. Get some Caramel Corn! There are worse vices and it IS only once a year0

Go get a bag and eat half of it. Why deprive yourself of yummy goodness. Then just exercise off what you eat. It really is that simple.

Try logging it into your food diary and see what it does to your numbers. Information is power! Once I see how bad a food I am craving really is, I'm usually no longer craving it quite so much.0

Every time I see something laying around the house I could binge on- I ask any of my relatives to take it home with them or eat it before I do. If all fails, then I will throw the item away before I inhale it and feel bad about myself after. Try to remind yourself how far you've come and all the hard work you have done, don't give up stay strong! :flowerforyou:0

Oh my goodness! You are doing so good not to have eaten it yet.....don't give in now! You can do it! You're strong!0

Buy some and ask if they will just fill your bag halfway up.0

I give myself one day a week as a " treat" day. I get to eat that candy bar or whatever I am craving. This helps me to avoid temptations other days throughout the week because I know my " treat " day is coming soon.0

Dont torture yourself...get a bag and share it with someone. Then take an extra walk if you are stressing about it then its not good..just get it eat it walk it off move one. One "cheat" won't kill you the problem starts when you forget about the good eating habits and eat BAD every day.0

No one should beat themselves up if they have a slip up every now and then. It happens to everyone and that's damn okay. You seem like you have everything pretty under control.0

Maybe you could promise yourself if you still want it at the end of day 4, go ahead and indulge but only plan on eating a measured amount (plan for the calories). That way you will get a taste of it but the carnival will be over and you won't be able to get anymore. I do this sometimes when my husband gets french fries or a bag of chips. I say eat them all but save the last one for me. It gives me the taste but there isn't anymore to eat.0

This. One meal isn't going to undo everything. Just get back to being normal the next day.0 -
I'm with the people who urge you to have a little (and like the person who suggested getting them only to give you half a bag).
You can't permanently deprive yourself -- you need to find a lifestyle that works for you for the rest of your life. That includes indulgences in moderate amounts (and adjusting your other calorie intake/exercise to account for that). I think that a lot of people gain weight after "diets" because when they hit their "goal", they don't know how to deal with this type of craving and go back to their old eating patterns.0 -
Take a cup and go down and see how much they will charge you for just a cup full. I have no problem explaining why I want what I want. I tell them hey I've lost 112 lbs and there is no way I'm going to screw this up, but this smells so good so can you just sell me a cup full or half a bag full or 1/3 rd of a bag full. Or go buy the whole bag and eat a few bites and throw the rest away so you don't take the rest of the bag upstairs with you. Choices but you know it gives you the small taste your craving without the guilt of eating the whole bag.0
-
I like that idea! I'm going to try it, too!0

If eating sugar triggers sugar cravings for you then avoid it like the plague- for me a splurge on a sweet treat results in either more (a lot more) sweets or a miserable week of thinking how I want more. If you are the type that can have some and then move on then set aside some calories and work it into your food plan. An occasional treat that doesn’t push you over your weekly calories is a good thing.0

Are you hungry? Yes- choose a healthier snack than those empty calories with lots of sugar. No- then DO NOT eat.
It's the perfect time to learn healthy eating habits!
GOOD LUCK AND STAY STRONG!!0 -
I would eat it. I plan on having some yummy food when our fair comes in October-probably a funnel cake, a candy apple, and chicken pie.0
-
ya'll may not like to hear this but I say go for it. Eat what you like, just not too much of it and work your butt off and exercise. I think the more you try to stay away from it the more you'll want it. If you have enough willpower not to eat it, good for you, but don't beat yourself up over it.0

Some great advice here!!
I'd go with buy some, ask them to only give you half, and then throw half of that again out. Go down, get involved in the music and festivities, eat a little and DO NOT take the rest home! Dance, walk around, have fun. Don't deprive yourself of all the good stuff
But GREAT WORK holding strong for this long!! :flowerforyou:0
