Eating more?

I've just gotten a fitbit and I've been trying to follow the guidelines it's been giving me for calories. That being said, what it is suggesting is higher than what I normally go for. My weight hasn't gone down. It's gone up about 1.5lbs so far.

Should I keep going and give it a week or two? Stop now before I gain too much?

Help?

Take a look at this thread - lots of good info on how to set you calorie targets and why it matters.

It should help you compare the fitbit data to your prior estimate and MFP's calculations.

I have a fitbit as well and use it to track my activity. I use MFP to track my food. I have set my calorie goals using the link above and manually set my targets based on TDEE - 20%. I do have the two accounts linked but ignore the exercise calories it adds on to your MFB target since if you follow the link you are already factoring in your deficit and your exercise burn.

Your body reacts to changes, often by holding on to excess water. If you've just changed your routine, give it at least 2 weeks and more like a month before you decide whether it is working or not.

Make sure uncheck ur settings on fitbit. It might be set to very active, which would give u a higher calorie allowance.

    How do I check that?

U can either use the fitbit app or go to fitbit.com. When u r signed into ur account look to the right of where it says Dahboard. There should be a tab that says Log. Click on that. Then u will see food log. Disregard that, just below that box will be a box that says Food Plan (how much you should eat for the day). Towards the top right of that box should be a little blue settings button with an arrow to the right. Click on that and then u will be able to see if u need to make changes...

I chose the plan where I'd give myself a 500 calorie deficit a day based on my activity levels.
