hi all its day 2 and im doing good :) but could somebody explain why it says im allowed over 3000 calories i dont go any where near this amount but was just a little confussed xx

    Whats your activity level set at? Did you add in your exercise?...

    The other thing it might be is that you entered your weight in lbs but is set in kg's which would make MFP think you weight 2.2 times more than you do, which will give you extra calories, as the more you weigh the more you burn.

    Go back and make sure you have entered all your information correctly.

    Double check your info and your activity setting, but know that the more you weigh the more cals it will have you eating to start and wean you down as you lose weight. 3,000 could be accurate. Larger bodies need more cals. It will adjust your cal needs based on your check ins and new weight. If you are very high on the scale, you can bump up your weight loss goals from 1 lb a week to 2 lb a week (or whatever that is in KG) and still be healthy as it is easier to lose more quicker at first if you are larger. Then, when you get down, adjust that to 1 lb a week. The 2 lbs a week will lower your cal intake a bit.

    You CAN go suddenly down to a much lower cal diet - but your body will not recognize it as dieting - it will recognize it as starving and it will sabotage your weight loss in the long run.

    (Also, note - if you put your activity level as "active" because, ie, you are on your feet a lot or walk every day on your lunch break, or something, then be sure not to include that as exercise cals or you will be doubling up on counting that activity.)

    And lastly - 3,000 might make it tempting to eat 1500 good calories and a McDonald's Meal, and still stay in your calories (though likely not in your fat intake range) but try not to :) If you need suggestions of healthy foods to "blow" some calories on put up a posting and people will come out of the woodwork with great suggestions! From Peanut Butter to nuts to milk...
