Looking for a stress reliever!

Hello everyone! I'm a 27 year old full time college student and I work full time as well at a local resort (let me know if you are looking for an awesome getaway!). I have always had the desire to stay in tip top shape and to push myself in eating right and staying fit but the motivation comes and goes. I love strength training but I just dislike cardio for some reason. A friend of mine on Facebook has been posting small clips of how she has used this site to her advantage and has lost I believe 40+ lbs so far. I hope to use this to steer me clear from fried foods and fast foods. Being single and living alone, it's hard not to venture out for that quick and easy meal but I must do this! I weigh right now 197 and I am 5'7". No one ever believes me when I tell them how much I weigh due to my structure. If anyone can give me any tips in slimming down, I would greatly appreciate it. I am hoping to get around 175-180 lbs to reach my goal. I look to gain more muscle then loosing weight so I hope somehow it all balances out!
Thanks for listening!!!

Hi Monica!
I don't have a lot of tips to offer you but I tend to walk a lot around campus and around my home (at least 30 min every day) and it really helped my thighs to slim down. I know walking is not the first thing people think of when they want to work out but I know it does miracles to my body and it is a very nice thing to do when it's not raining. I also drink lemon water like it's my job (all through the day) and I think it helps me to reduce cravings for junk food.
Good luck with your diet!

Welcome!! I can understand your concerns with eating and being alone and finding the quick fix on food. Eat less than you did before and eat more fruits and veggies if at all possible and drink LOTS of water!! Water is your best friend! I started my journy by just walking on the treadmill and lost my first 40 lbs that way. I still walk daily but have added weights for strength training and toning. Over the past couple of months I have started running which I have really seen the difference in my leg muscles.
You can do it!! I never thought I could so if I can anyone can!!

Aww... Thanks! I have been having some stress issues recently and I am trying to stay proactive! It can get hard sticking with a workout program because I do it alone. I wish I had a workout partner so we could push each other....0

That's awesome! I have a fitness center at the resort that I work at and I roll in around 10pm when everyone's gone and do my thing here and there but when I eat.... That's a different story. I love food!!!! So it seems that I gain muscle and bulk up more instead of toning down. Thanks for adding me! I can't wait to see how this turns out!0
