Feeling sick

it's my first week of using MFP and I am finding I feel sick after eating and am often not hungry. Is this normal? I have just had toast and now feel very sick and full. Surely the stomach won't shrink internally for weeks or months yet? Is it psychological?

I never felt sick when I started MFP. I felt full! However, you have to consider that you might have a stomach bug. I doubt your stomach shrank in a week if you are eating healthy. Hope you feel better.

It's ebbing away now. It seems to last for about 30 minutes after eating but I am never sick. Yeah it wouldn't be my stomach yet so maybe it is in my head. In a way I have hit the point where I resent food and eating as it has caused me so much misery so maybe it's that rather than physical.

Give yourself some time. Make sure that you are eating things that are healthy and that you like. This really should not be a punishment feeling that you have. That will be setting yourself up to really resent this change. AND most importantly, you will not stick with it. Do you feel like you're eating enough?

Definitely, I eat three meals a day but don't snack. I feel full from the meals and they are decent meals. I had steak the other night and jacket potatoes with cheese so not rabbit food diet at all. I have lost a lot this week which I assume is all water weight so maybe I am a bit dehydrated as I must admit I rarely drink water.

It sounds like you're eating well. That's good. Restricting your calories (as you will see some people do) only works short term. The goal of this is to make your eating plan be something that you could do with one hand behind your back on one foot for the rest of your life. Then, you will never have to look at food again as something that causes misery! I'm adding a link here that has literally saved my life. I was really low calorie when I started this in March and as I began to exercise more, I lost weight but I was MISERABLE! I was hungry all the time. This person (helloitsdan) gave me great insight to how my body works and what it needs to lose weight without doing damage to muscles or anything else. Best of luck to you. You can do this. If I can - anybody can! You're very young and I hope you do it now and don't wait until you're my age!

Use this to figure your daily calories. It's awesome in explaining what's what!

Edited for my atrocious spelling! too early
