Tracking Weight Lifting

I've been weight lifting for awhile now, but i've not been tracking it on MFP. I keep my log in a notebook. How do other weight lifters here track there workouts? Is there a way to change your goals, and to track goals that aren't cardio? I know I can put in the name of the exercise, the weight and the reps on my exercise page. I hate not being able to meet my "goals" because I don't do nearly as much cardio now that the weights keep getting heavier.

I don't log weight lifting (and that's pretty much they only exercise I do) on MFP. Your goals should be increasing the weight and either losing weight or bulking up. It's difficult to get that to show on MFP so I just have a spreadsheet of my weights: Week 1, Exercise 1, Set 1,2,3 etc.0

That was a helluva Jefit promotion but it's all true. I used to use a notebook for years but Jefit is extremely convenient. Just a terrific way to track yourself0 -
+1 for JEFIT. I mostly use the Android JEFIT Pro app. I use the web based app for setting up my routines. It takes a little work to get your routine(s) set up, but once that part is behind you it's great. Very easy to use in the gym, keeps you up to date on your PRs based on reps, etc.
Their support for recording cardio/metcon exercises has improved in the last 6 months too.0 -
Just noticed that there is a second question buried in there.
To change goals, go to My Home, then click on Goals. You'll see Change Goals down there. Then put whatever you want. Or just leave it blank. It's kind of worthless. It doesn't affect your macros, and if you go over or under it really doesn't care. I set mine when I joined and never looked at them again.0 -

I use the same weight lifting machines every time I work out, and do the same number of sets and reps on each machine. In the notepad app that came with my iPhone, I list all the machines in the order in which I do them. After each machine I list my highest in parentheses, and then what I did that day. So, if I do the same weight then no changes are needed. When I change something I just change the number. I take my iPhone with me while I lift at the gym, so that I can check and see what I am lifting if I have forgotten. Also I can make any necessary changes between sets.
As for goals, the highest previous weight is always a goal. Beyond that, I pay attention to how my body feels and when the weight seems relatively easy, then I increase it the next time. I don't have any specific goals other than improving on my personal best.

If the exercise machine that you are using is not listed, simply add it as a Custom Exercise under My Exercises. First, however, you may want to search for it in the database. It is probably listed already, but may just be under a different name than what you are used to calling it.
The order of your Exercises for a particular day in your Routine is adjusted using the "My Routines" interface on the left menu. Click the "Add/Edit" button for the particular day in your routine that you wish to re-order. Use the "order" column to change the order.0 -

I must be old. I still use a notepad/pencil. Though sometimes I use the notepad app on my iPhone. Now I believe I will be looking up jefit app. I tried tracking each thing here with the strength training tracker but it wasn't really worth it. Took forever it seemed and I kinda like using a notepad.0
