Closed groups? Can someone enlighten me?

As I work through the forums this morning I am noticing several active threads marked as 'Closed Groups' and it makes me wonder, if you are forming a closed group would it not be better to form a group and conduct it in a private forum instead of among the public forums? Please understand I am not complaining per se, but I am confused. Can someone enlighten me?

Does it bother you that people want to do their things without inviting everyone else to join? It's their business. They simply use this platform because it works well. Just find yourself an open group or creat your own if you are interested in something.0

I assume it is because they don't know about groups on here. Otherwise I agree it would be a bit rude - but I am sure they dont realise.
I think it is normal to be bothered when pointedly excluded from something (regardless of whether you wanted to be involved in the first place!).0 -

That is an interesting question, and admittedly it might be something that I have to work on in myself. My only curious question is that I have always felt the public forums are supposed to be inclusive where groups could be exclusive. By having closed threads it fosters a more exclusive atmosphere that perhaps I am overly sensitive to.
I am currently working on a group idea, but I was more inquiring why a 'Closed' conversation was being conducted in the public arena. It seems like a group of people talking on a street corner who then look at you cross eyed for standing in proximity. Like I said, just a question and I thought maybe there was a constructive answer or point I was missing.0 -

I see this exactly this way: like people standing in a group on a streat. Street is a public place, yet it is perfectly acceptable to have a private converstaion there. And teh point about exclusivness .... the only reason people don't like it is they are not inside. My personal idea about it is that if I feel get a feeling of loneliness that comes from being excluded I try to form my own groups (exercise group, movie watching group ... study group while at uni ect) ... have your own "group" and you won't feel excluded plus you will decide yourself how open you want it. This works in both virtual and real life because it is you who have a problem with not being included, not the group and you are the one who should do something about it ... unless you prefare to complain that's it.0 -
It's all cycle logical really, if you can't get it, you want it more!
life's too short to ponder enjoy yourself and the journey.
Good luck with both.
