First day- Excited!

Hi all!

So.... I have always half-heartedly said I'm starting a diet this week etc etc. but in reality I know I'm not really going to bother,
BUT this time I have decided I'm going to track everything and really go for this. My main reason is for my mum's wedding in Santorini on 16th September.

I've never been really overweight but I've always been a bit over what I should be and I've found now that it's creeping up and I am going to have to change my eating habits. I pretty much eat whatever I want and although on the whole I'm relatively healthy, my downfall is bingeing on chocolate. For example, after my lunch at work I'll go and get a large sharing pack of minstrels or something along those lines and eat them all. Not many day go by when I don't have chocolate oops!

So I'm 25, 5"6 and I think about 10 and a half stone. I would like to be just over 9 so I have actually got quite a bit to lose.

I don't do much exercise apart from an hour walk at the weekend so I'm going to try and go to a class at least once a week. What do you guys think would be a good weight loss goal for me on a weekly basis? And how much do you think I could lose by the 16th September?!

So far today I have eaten a bowl of special k with semi skimmed milk and 2 weight watchers biscuits with a tea :)

Think I will post some starting pictures tonight xx

    Hi,

I'm the same height but quite a bit heavier than you so don't worry I have a lot further to go.
It is my second week and I am loving the control. I used to eat chocolate daily too but some how with tracking what I eat that has narrowed to once a day or just malteasers which are great at preventing the cravings!
I've been told people should aim to lose 1-2lbs a week as that is a healthy way. I don't know if this is true as I've also been told, if you are supposed to lose x amount of lbs then you will! So far I have lost 6lbs, literally 3 a week and I am already seeing a difference. I've also been told that you might hit you goal body before your goal weight. So don't put too much pressure on yourself :D

You already do more exercise than I used to! I never went for long walks, I love my DVD collection too much! However, I've been doing Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. 20mins in the morning and I'm done for the day. And I feel fab! So if you find going to classes taxing (which I do!) then thats a great way to start!

Good luck with it and most of all enjoy it!!

Well MFP is definitely a great place to start if you want to lose weight. I would recommend you start my logging EVERYTHING you eat each day. You will quickly see how fast those calories add up. Make sure you drink plenty of water, for me this is the most difficult but the key to losing weight.
As far as exercising if you want to lose weight by Sept 16th you are going to need to get up and get moving. Whatever you like to do, walk, swim, run but the key is to do something for atleat 30min to an hour everyday!!

Best of luck and enjoy your Mum's wedding! :)
