Cut calories, working out, no difference

Hello,
I meet my daily caloric goals according to MFP, I work out 4-5 days a week, sometimes twice, but while 30 minutes each time, it's more than the goals for the week. I am not seeing any difference. I find it more challenging in my 30's. I see a bit of a difference in my face, but no where else. Clothes are not fitting any better. Been at this now with MFP since. I keep going still, just a little frustrated.

How long has your weight loss stalled? Are you doing strength training?0

If you are not losing weight you are likely consuming more calories than you think, or you could have a medical condition which is making your current caloric deficit insufficient.
All these internet figures for calories burned are estimations. Food labels can legally be 20% off (do you think any manufacturer is over reporting calories).
If you want to lose faster, make sure you are medically able, and then slowly increase the caloric deficit. Say 50-100 daily calories less every week. See how you respond.
It really is that simple. Track, adjust, succeed.0 -
I was on a 1200 calorie diet.
Bootcamp classes twice a week. Ate 50% of my burned cals.
3 dog walks per day.
It came off pretty easily. It stalled when I fit foods in like pop tarts and Nestlé drumsticks. I took it seriously (clean, unprocessed, organic, straight from the farm food) again and lost the rest to reach my goal. Now I am maintaining @ 1400-1500 cals per day.
I recommend rest between challenging workouts. I also think that adding variety in your workout helps. I knew I was getting my workouts worth when my face was red and my HRM told me I reached v02. If you don't feel like dying during training, you're not challenging your body enough.0 -
Hello,

You'd get more help if you opened your diary. How long have you been trying to lose weight?0 -

Wow I didn't know that that's alot!!! Is that with any nutritional label or just processed foods?0 -
Thank you to everybody's replies. I am 5'7 and have really been keeping track since only mid July though been working out regularly for a year (however, food intake was bad at that time)
Ideally I'd like to be in the 160's though according to medical charts I should be in the 150's but that's unrealistic for me to maintain with my heavy bone structure/muscle. Right now I am at 170.2.
I know it takes time, but it could also just be that my body is meant to support this weight and best I can do is maintain it and keep working out. I don't want a 6 pack, I want something real. Just to get to about 31-33 inch waist (I'm at 34 now, down from 36) and get to a size 10 that is ME. 8 is good, but 10 is what my body can manage healthily. I am a 12 now.
I do a lot more weights than I used to so that could possibly be hindering it and recently realize that protein bars may not be in my favor.
Not liking my 30's0 -
Could also be excessive drinking since everyone of my friends is getting married, having bachelorette parties, showers, or a Wednesday.0

Oh yeah drinking stalls me EVERY TIME. It dehydrates me so I retain fluids and it's empty calories. It's hard to say no when there's a celebration but I have started to make a real effort to drink extra water and choose lower calorie drinks. Not sure if that actaully helps. I'm guessing the only thing that actaully helps is not drinking.*sigh*0

I just turned 45. Before I began tracking my calories with MFP, I thought I WAS cutting calories and I was exercising almost everyday. After 2 weeks, I had gained two pounds! It wasn't until I seriously began tracking every calorie with MFP that I realized how "off" I was thinking I was cutting calories. I absolutely hate counting calories, but I've lost 5 pounds so far using the website and the mobile app. I walk 3 or more miles everyday. I have only noticed slightly that my clothes aren't as tight. But I'm very happy every time I step on the scale. I know it may take a while, but I am making progress. And that is what counts. I'm starting to shy away from those protein bars and drinks and I'm concentrating on healthier foods and more water. Keep at it. It will come in time if you keep trying.0

Do you have the symptoms for insulin resistance? You can look them up.
If you do, cut your carbs and go to your doctor for blood work. If you have IR, MS, PCOS or any other insulin related disorder you will find it very difficult to lose weight eating the standard American diet.0 -
Thanks again for all the feedback. Since November I have been religious about drinking my 8 glasses of water a day, typically before 3p (while at work) so I am not dehydrated, but I am fairly positive it's to do with the drinking. I am getting married in 12 days so am cutting out drinking and excess sugars and carbs (minus the toast I just ate). I typically have Trader Joes salads for lunch since they are easy but have now bought my own fat free/calorie free/sugar free dressing so that should help. MFP has definitely helpe me to get and stay motivated, but I guess after so many months of something not working you readjust and now it's time for that readjustment. As for drinking, I'll stick to my 99 calorie Bud Select (absolutely NO 55, it's gross)0
